Last Tuesday, Eldorado held a free webinar on The Ins and Outs of Hosting a Climbing Wall Competition. The webinar was a huge success, drawing record breaking registration and attendance.
During the webinar, attendees were walked through the important details on how to host a climbing wall competition. Some of the major topics discussed involved marketing, measuring returns, structure, scoring, pre- and post- follow-up, event size, organization, climbing wall designs, and more. At the end, attendees were able to submit questions to our host and panelists – four well respected experts in the climbing industry.

Andy Nelson, Colorado State University
Andy Nelson is Coordinator of the Outdoor Program & Climbing Wall at Colorado State University – Campus Recreation. He oversees the outdoor recreation programs and climbing wall facility in the Student Recreation Center. He has been climbing for over ten years.
Matt Parker, Town of Breckenridge
Matt began his professional career in the outdoor industry while earning his Masters in Recreation Administration from Georgia Southern University. Since that time, Matt has toured around the intermountain west guiding on rock and water and teaching wilderness medicine and mountain rescue courses. Matt currently heads up the Outdoor Programs for the Breckenridge Recreation Department, teaching climbing, mountain biking, outdoor education and winter sports to locals and visitors of all ages.
Steven Jeffery, Professional Climbers International Routesetter
Steven has been a commercial and elite level competition route setter since 1992, working with leading climbing gyms and events across the country. As a professional climber, Steven brings inside knowledge to the competition setting challenge. As Chief Route Setter for the Battle in the Bubble, a pro bouldering competition organized by PCI and The Spot Bouldering Gym in 2010, Steven choreographed top quality climbs for competitors that also provide crowd and camera pleasing aesthetics.
Scott “Skinny” Eney, Triangle Rock Club
Scott “Skinny” Eney has worked in the climbing industry for over 20 years. Skinny has been the event planner and emcee for ABS Divisionals and SCS Regionals, Chief Judge for Dominion River Rock, and a judge for ABS Nationals. In addition Skinny has built numerous climbing walls as an Eldorado Wall Company road crew job leader, was the head routesetter for Triangle Rock Club, and is planning an upcoming ABS local and ABS Regional.Currently the Facility Manager and Special Event Coordinator for the Triangle Rock Club, Skinny just finished opening the new North Raleigh location and is gearing up for the expansion of the their original facility, both Eldowalls projects. Skinny is a USAC Level 2 routesetter with youth and adult endorsements for boulders and ropes.
