On Friday, September 6th, 2013, the newest Triangle Rock Club facility opened its doors in North Raleigh, North Carolina. After a summer of climbing wall construction, climbers were excited to enter a facility with over 13,000 square feet of climbing terrain – a 50% increase from the original location in Morrisville.
The North Raleigh facility has a number of extra features in the climbing wall design that go above and beyond the average climbing gym, setting the new Triangle Rock Club apart as a world class facility. The walls are constructed with a high polymer concrete with color pigments already mixed in, and therefore will never have to be painted, as they will never fade or lose color. The walls are also extremely intricate in design, containing more panels than the average wall for more detail and shape.
“This is the highest quality project we have ever built,” says Scott Stein, Project Manager, “it’s really an incredible undertaking.”
CEO Jerad Wells, Project Manager Scott Stein, and Lead Designer Jason Thomas traveled to North Carolina to witness the excitement on opening day.
“The scope of the project and the time it was completed in was impressive,” says Wells, “we were thrilled to be there on day one to see how well the climbing wall design, quality, and craftsmanship was embraced by the community.”
Eldorado’s relationship with the Triangle Rock Club will continue this fall as we prepare to break ground on an expansion in Morrisville. The expansion will include 50 ft walls in nearly 17,000 new square feet of climbing space, more than doubling the size of the existing facility.
