Construction Assistant Foreman

Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional hands-on construction skills including ownership of basic tool belt-type personal tools. Trade certifications preferred.
- Carpentry experience
- Strong leadership skills. Experience managing a construction crew preferred.
- Commercial job site experience and knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to be able to effectively and quickly communicate with Foreman, crew, and client
- An eye for craftsmanship. Ability to put visual elements in words and provide feedback to craftsmen.
- Excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage daily reports, schedules, expense tracking, and payroll reporting.
- Ability and desire to lead a traveling and working lifestyle with varying work schedules including weekends
- Ability to lift 80 lbs and work on your feet for 10 hours per day
- Valid Driver’s license
Responsibilities:
Master the specialty skills and processes used and be able to train others:
- Blueprint reading and layout
- Welding using the SMAW (stick welding) process
- Use of personal protective equipment and rope access systems
- Panel installation and finish carpentry
- Shotcrete application and rock carving (preferred)
- Various hardware and general construction skills
- Operation of jobsite equipment including forklift, scissor lift, boom lift
- Solid knowledge of fasteners
Project Planning
- Forward thinking experienced construction professional dedicated to planning ahead, anticipating construction conflicts and resolving issues before they become critical.
- Review plans and design with Foreman
- Review sequence of construction, special details, special material or finishes and terminations to adjacent work or structures
- Work with Foreman to maintain and adhere to project schedule
- Work with Foreman to develop and implement safety plans
- Participate in packing list review and job site inventory to ensure all necessary materials and tools are delivered to the job site
Project Installation
- Participate in daily morning meeting with Foreman to organize workflow and sequencing
- Manage and supervise second shift or night work
- Manage and supervise modular or small custom construction projects
Team Management
- Direct crew activities as required by Foreman
- Ensure the safety of workers and equipment
- Motivate and develop construction team members
- Communicate issues to Foreman and work together on solutions before they become critical.
Client and Jobsite Relations
- Act as the primary point of client contact in the absence of the Foreman
- Manage the crew’s interaction with other trades in the absence of the Foreman
Process Improvement
- Provide recommendations to improve installation process, saving money and time
- Participate in project debriefs with Project Management. Share knowledge gained from each project to be applied to future installations
